12/3/2023 0 Comments Used barnett crossbow quiver![]() The Wildcat C5 weighs 8.5 lbs, which is a little above average, however I’ve found the construction to be incredibly balanced, enough so that it felt pretty light to carry. Keep in mind the arrows included with the package come with field points I recommend getting Barnett’s 125 grain Broadheads for hunting, they work perfectly with this crossbow. In all three cases the arrow achieved a full pass-through (two shoulder shots and one shot closer to the neck), and the deer only managed to run an 80-100 yard distance before they collapsed. I’ve successfully harvested 3 deer with the Wildcat C5 (two bucks and one doe) one was shot from a ~25 yard distance and two from around ~40 yards. See our Crossbow Ballistics Guides section for a complete understanding of how we conducted our tests and why this data matters. Your actual results will vary slightly depending on weather, and significantly with arrow weight change. Ballistic Data For The Barnett Wildcat C5 My arrows were grouping in a 1″ circle, and I did not feel any vibrations when the shot was fired trigger pulled smoothly and with just the right resistance. Shot it from 40 yards, this time placing a thick piece of wood behind the target, and the arrow again went right through the sand bag. This is a very powerful crossbow so make sure nothing you care about is positioned behind the target or it could suffer. The arrow, fired from 30 yards away, punched a hole right through and damaged the garden chair that was standing behind it. My first shot was aimed at a bulls-eye I placed on a large bag filled with sand. While definitely not a “whisper,” the noise levels were low enough that I didn’t feel the need to install additional silencers. If you’ve ever used a compound crossbow before, you’ll immediately notice how quiet this model is. I sighted the 3-red-dot scope within a few minutes and fired arrows from a 30 and 40 yard distance (my yard is too small for anything beyond that). While the Wildcat C5 was designed for hunting, it performs just as well in a target-practice environment. Make sure to set the safety to “on” once you’re done cocking the Wildcat to avoid an accident or a “dry” fire – the latter will void your 5 year warranty from Barnett. The cocking motion was very smooth and the string was latched easily with every attempt. ![]() of weight, though you can buy a rope cocking aid separately – as always I recommend the extra-long Jandao rope cocking aid ( link), which has proven very durable and is longer than most other ais. ![]() I cocked the Wildcat manually as I’m used to pulling 150 lbs. You’ll want to wax it once every 7-or-so bolts fired to make it lasts as long as possible. I do not like to concern myself with numbers too much and rather prefer to see how a crossbow actually performs, as numbers can sometimes be deceiving.Īs always, make sure to wax the string before you cock the crossbow for the first time. Preparing to Shoot & SpecsĪccording to specs, the Wildcat C5 can fire a bolt at a speed of 320 FPS with a draw weight of 150 lbs. Expect the whole procedure to take 15 minutes at best (it took me personally less than 10). Finally, slide the scope onto the stack, tighten down the scope screws, and you’re done. Now slide the foot stirrup into the hole at the front of the crossbow and fasten it with two bolts. Next slide the riser onto the stock, and fasten it using the largest of the included bolts. As usual you start by attaching the quiver mount to the bottom of the stock using the included screws and key.
